High Ridge Firehouse 5K (3.107 Miles) 00:35:36, Place overall: 110, Place in age division: 3 | | This was the third 5K in my life. Sara Haskins the Olympic star is my neighbor, and her fit-as-a-fiddle family were all out for the race. I felt proud to place 3rd in the 60-99 year classification, given my training background and the excellent runners in this class. Temperature was 40f at the 8AM start, no wind, and an all-pavement out-and-back course with several long hills.

Spring Fling 2015 Run (3.107 Miles) 00:33:04, Place in age division: 5 | | A lesson in humility!
The Jefferson City Road Racer club 60+ age group is STRONG AS HELL! I pushed hard, gained 2:30 time, for a PR of 33:04. And I was at the back of the pack in this bracket.
I assumed there would be few runners, even fewer in my age bracket. And assumed, wrongly, that I would have a good chance of placing and getting some bling. There were few runners, but all in my bracket were FAST! No bling, just a big plate of crow. My track-star USMC nephew told me later, "Uncle Cam, that club is full of old guys that can outrun our high school track team!"
Still, it was a big achievement to drop 2:30 on my PR. I now know I have to push really hard to keep this ball rolling!

No mushrooms but good endorphins and a fine run at dusk.
