Running Accomplishments:

Born January 1951 in St. Louis Missouri USA. Have never been involved in sports or physical training until 2011. Started running June 2013 after 2 years of weight loss and high-intensity aerobics. Prefer technical trail running to any other exercise.

Began participating in 5K races October 2014. First race:35:52.

PR : 33:04

Short-Term Running Goals:

  • Complete my transition to toe-strike, barefoot running
  • Achieve a PR 5K of 30:00.
  • Pass/maintain semi-annual USMC physical fitness test age graded 46 yr, 1st Class fitness requirement.

Long-Term Running Goals:

  • Run a marathon and finish it.
  • Keep on running and supporting St.Louis Ultrarunners Group.
  • Integrate wilderness outdoor observation and tracking, minimalist camping/survivalism, into a holistic running experience.

Personal:

Pair-bonded wage slave for 40 years with empty nest. Eagle Scout, wilderness survival enthusiast, UNIX hippie. Paleo lifestyle enthusiast.

Big long hills in downtown St. Louis, high humidity, limited training in the 2 weeks prior, new shoes. All things considered, completed in reasonable time and finished strong.

Ran 10 minute mile on indoor track, wearing new Altra Lone Peak shoes. New shoes are conducive to toe-strike, proper running form. Felt great.
